Elko, Nevada, Boasts Housing Sales Increase

Northern Nevada Business News reports the sale of new site-built and manufactured homes in mile-high Elko, Nevada, is up for the first quarter of the year over last year.  Real estate agents sold 21 in the first quarter of 2011, 15 percent more than last year, and at an average of $55,000 more.  Jesse James, owner of RE/MAX Gold, said sales of existing homes is also good. She says, “The mines are hiring, and this is a great market.  We have very few foreclosures right now.  We probably will see a few more, a few HUD homes, but nothing like the rest of the state.”  She says new home builders are coming from Las Vegas and Boise, Idaho.
