Down Under Dealing with MH Siting

Input from manufactured home owners, community operators, and the public at large is sought on the issue of alternative manufactured home placement outside MHCs, according to MySunshineCoast in Australia. Housing Minister Karen Struthers, speaking at the Manufactured Home Owners Consumers Forum, suggests participants weigh in on the recently released discussion paper on the future of MH. “Today’s forum provides an opportunity to meet and hear from home owners and agency representatives supporting them. Building a strong relationship between manufactured home owners and the government will help to sustain and grow the industry, while making sure home owners’ rights are also protected,” says Ms. Struthers. Noting the majority of manufactured housing homeowners were elderly Queenslanders on fixed incomes, she said the government is trying to deal with MHC owners who are charging extra for electricity.
