Developers of Large NYC Modular Apartment Complex to be Honored

Bruce Ratner, executive chairman, and Maryanne Gilmartin, President and CEO, Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC), are being honored for their longstanding commitment to New York City in recognition of their efforts to promote world-class design, architectural innovation and public art. As MHProNews has reported previously, FCRC is behind the 34-story modular Atlantic Yards apartment complex rising adjacent to the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, where the Brooklyn Nets professional basketball team holds court. The Municipal Art Society (MAS) of New York will present the 2014 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medals to Gilmartin and Ratner at a black-tie fundraiser on June 11, 2014, according to rew-online.com. Contributions support the preservation and design solutions that enhance the quality of life in NYC, in honor of Mrs. Onassis’ efforts to preserve New York’s architectural treasures. The Atlantic Yards development, one of the largest modular buildings in the world, will have 6,400 residential units, 20 percent of them designated low income. ##
