County Supervisors visit Modular Home Development

We last posted a story June 29, 2013 regarding the closing of manufactured housing (MH) slum Duroville and the opening of modular development Mountain View Estates, where many of the Duroville residents moved. Sept. 30, two nonprofit representatives, a handful of county employees, and three Riverside County (California) supervisors went on a bus tour that included Mountain View so the supervisors would have a better focus on issues in the area. Supervisor John Benoit, says, “The vast majority of economic development (in the county) is going to be here in the Coachella Valley, but they don’t get to see it that often. I wanted them to see the actual physical location of some of these places.” According to mydesert.com, Tatiana Sanchez says the drive through the 181 new modular Mountain View Estates “drew small gasps and excited chatter from the supervisors.” Opened in January, the multimillion dollar project was funded by the county’s redevelopment district, as MHProNews has learned.
