Connecticut Modular Development Hits another Clench

Following a story MHProNews.com last posted March 12, 2014 regarding possible settlement of a proposed modular development in Ridgefield, Connecticut that has seen its share of legal wrangling since Sept. 20, 2012, we have learned the project’s architect threw another “saw” (as in “monkey wrench”) into the works: The resubmitted plans were not what had been agreed to previously by planning and zoning (P&Z), according to the ridgefieldpress.com. Ridgefield Modular Home Corp. originally had designs for 11 units in four buildings, but that whittled down to two two-bedroom modular units and one three-bedroom unit, all in one building. However, the latest submission to P&Z called for three units with three bedrooms apiece. Commissioner Peter Chipouras says, “We would like to see what we saw last time — no changes. The footprint has to be the same; the architecture has to be the same.” Although some commissioners were reluctant to even consider another hearing, they finally agreed to a continuance until April 1. If the revisions are correct, the modular units may proceed.
