Committee Considers Restrictions on Manufactured Homes in the Parish

The dailytimes.com reports from Franklinton, Louisiana the Parish Council Infrastructure Committee is considering preventing manufactured homes from being moved into the parish if they were constructed over 25 years ago, but existing homes can be moved from site to site within the parish regardless of age. The goal is to prevent factory-built homes in poor condition being brought into the parish. Chairman Levi Lewis suggested the council use 1976 as the cutoff date since that is when the federal government imposed construction standards on the homes. Since the parish permit office is not allowed to inspect the interior, as MHProNews has learned, Lewis recommended creating a list of cosmetic criteria by which to judge them. The committee has scheduled a meeting for Jan. 21, 2014 to take up the discussion again.
