City Plans to Demolish old pre-HUD Code Homes

WFTV reports the city of Casselberry, Florida just north of Orlando wants to demolish vacant factory-built houses and replace them with Habitat for Humanity homes, which has a waiting list of 21 families in Seminole County and Greater Apopka wanting to buy Habitat homes. Casselberry has applied for neighborhood stabilization funds up to $1.5 million from Seminole County to began buying the three dozen or so parcels that contain the abandoned homes and contacting banks that have foreclosed on the properties. As MHProNews has learned, the project would add value to the tax base as well as provide affordable housing for low-income families.
