Canadian High Schoolers Building Modular Homes

Eighty percent of high school graduates in the Prairie Spirit school system outside Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada go directly into the workforce, and school officials want to upgrade their trades training. Currently, the Da Vinci project at the W. W. Brown school in Langham directs high school students in constructing modular homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. While the students accumulate apprenticeship hours, as thestarphoenix.com informs MHProNews.com, the school system would like to find certified instructors who are also journeymen that can teach carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other trades. The school system may reach out to an organization or businesses to form a partnership to continue building the modular homes. ##
