California Housing Costs Take Top Spot

According to fresnobee.com, except for people living in remote rural areas, California has the highest rental and owned housing costs, relative to income, as Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies reveals. The Los Angeles area tops the chart in this category, while San Diego ranks number five, San Bernardino-Riverside is number six, Fresno takes the eighth spot, while Monterey-Salinas, Oxnard-Ventura, and Santa Barbara garner nine through eleven, respectively.

California ranks number one in the nation in the percentage of mortgaged owners spending over 30 percent of household income on housing costs, and second on renter-occupied housing units spending 30 percent or more for housing, according to statemaster.com. U. S. Census data, as reported by infoplease.com, reveals there are over 538,000 manufactured homes in the state, as MHProNews has learned. ##
