From Virginia, the Daily News-Register says the Page County Board of Supervisors has rejected an application from Century Luray LC to develop a 232-homesite manufactured housing community in Luray, VA. County attorney George Shanks said that the county code of 1989 did allow for manufactured housing communities in town, but the 2005 amendments had the practical intent of severely limiting those communities on the land in question. The rejection came just two days after the supervisors’ refusal to rezone the property for an age-restricted subdivision, prompting a lawsuit by Century Luray against the county. The lawsuit contends the board’s actions violate the Virginia constitution.
