Assorted Fees a Deterrent to Siting Manufactured Homes

The owners of Hendrickson Estates and Hendrickson Heritage Park manufactured home communities in Sequim, Washington, just northwest of Seattle, say city fees for installing new homes have risen, adding insult to injury in the face of a housing industry battered by the recession. Jeanne Murray and Mel Hendrickson, co-owners of LJM Properties, say the city fee for a new manufactured home is only $250, set by state law. But as sequimgazette.com informs MHProNews.com, the general facility sewer fee is $8,050, a general facility water fee is $6,100, a park impact fee adds $2,210 and the transportation impact fee increases the amount by another $1,178. Once you add in smaller permit fees the total comes to $20,357 for a 1,512 square-foot manufactured home, including a 434 square-foot garage.
