Another Paper Gets It Wrong

A rash of errors in reporting on stories about mobile homes and fires is leaving readers with the false impression that manufactured homes are more prone to fire. An article on fire safety in the Lancaster, Ohio Eagle Gazette states, “for owners of manufactured homes, it’s even more important to make sure your home is fire-safe. Manufactured housing has the highest risk of fire deaths because fires spread faster—particularly in homes built before new safety standards took effect in 1976.” Homes built before 1976 of course are not by definition manufactured homes.
