Alabama Industry Leaders Discuss Dodd-Frank Issues with Key Congressional Leader

On October 28, Alabama Manufactured Housing Association (AMHA) Executive Director Sherry Norris, and CIS Financial Services, Inc. President and AMHA Board Member Paula Reeves met with House Financial Services Committee Ranking Minority Member Spencer Bachus (R-AL) on issues of key concern to the manufactured housing industry, including issues surrounding implementation of Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (H.R. 4173; P.L. 111-517).

Current political analysis indicates Republicans are poised to take control of the House of Representatives following the November elections. If this occurs, it is expected that Rep. Bachus will assume the chairmanship of the Financial Services Committee. During the meeting, he indicated that reforming provisions throughout the Dodd-Frank act will be a key priority for the GOP during the 112th Congress, which will officially begin in January. In addition, he indicated his strong desire to support the manufactured housing industry in its effort to minimize the bill’s adverse impact on industry lending and financing.
