Affordable Housing in a Gated Community

From Alabama, the Tuscaloosa News says one of the newest housing developments is a gated, affordable manufactured housing community in a hilly area of the county.  Country Ridge offers refurbished homes from the low $20,000s to the high $40,000s, with quaint street lights, underground utilities, security cameras and large lots to accommodate the single and multi-sectional homes.  The appeal is to retirees as well as families, and those who do not want lawns to mow.  The owners, FHL Real Estate Holdings, will work with people who have gone through foreclosure.  Residents are required to buy one of their homes, and have eight years to pay it off.  When it’s paid off, they can move it elsewhere or sell it to someone else who must undergo a background check.  Residents cannot bring in their own home.  There are 40 manufactured homes for sale currently.  The development has room for 102 sites.
