Under-utilized MH Community Program to Be Revised

The Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) says it and the National Communities Council (NCC) met with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) representatives to discuss a federal program to develop and rehabilitate manufactured housing communities.  Federal Housing Administration’s (FHA) 207(m) is a mortgage insurance program for owners and developers to obtain financing.  Although it has been on the books 50 years, only 128 loans have been granted.  There are ten outstanding loans currently.  HUD is studying ways to improve the program.  Editor’s Note: (FHA) 207(m) is a specialty of expert MHMSM Feature Article contributor, Edward ‘Eddie Hicks; see for instance, Is the Fha207m Loan Guarantee Program Still Alive?
