OK, it’s time to “Kick Ass”

Words of wisdom for this week.

“Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.”
– T.S. Eliot

Those of you who have been receiving my weekly tips for a few years might be surprised by the title of this one since I normally don’t use profanity in my writing but I decided that too many people are stuck in mindsets that are negative and drowning in their own sorrow. I am not immune to all of the stuff that is happening in the world, believe me, but I for one can tell you that giving up or in to the world and its negative influences will serve no useful purpose in your future. So, if you want to achieve big time this year you will need a “kick ass” mindset. Let me explain.

There are only two ways to maintain or increase your sales results – Go for it, experiment, try new approaches, contact different prospects and generally re-invent your entire sales strategies and approaches or just wait by the phone or for incoming emails. Now I ask you which will tend to have better results over the long term? Yes there is only one right answer to this question. So what is a “kick ass” mindset?

  1. Never give in to economic pressures and lose your passion.
  2. Never lose belief in yourself and the value you bring to your clients and prospects.
  3. Never let your competition drive your strategies or approaches.
  4. Never act desperate.
  5. Never stop learning and growing.
  6. Always go the extra mile.
  7. Always stretch and go for the gold.
  8. Always do something every day to move you closer to your goals.
  9. Always find more creative ways to prospect and sell.

This list could go on forever, believe me, but if you will just focus on these 9 for the next 12 months I’ll guarantee that 2010 will be a “kick ass” year for you. The alternative? More of the same that you experienced in 2009 (assuming 2009 was not a stellar year).

I have developed a mantra for 2010. As many of you know I have had a variety of Mantra’s over the years and these have changed with the times and my goals. So for 2010 I thought I would share this year’s with you. If it resonates with you, use it, it’s not copyrighted. My 2010 Mantra is simply – 2010 is a Kick Ass Year. Period. No excuses, no looking back, no whining and no turning over my life and destiny to others, the world or those idiot politicians.
