Let&#39;s take a moment and look at the two keynote addresses given on Wednesday April 30<sup>th<\/sup> and Thursday, May 1st.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ken-segall-insanely-simple-manufactured-housing-institute-mhi-2014-congress-and-expo-masthead-blog-mhpronews-com\" height=\"349\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/ken-segall-insanely-simple-manufactured-housing-institute-mhi-2014-congress-and-expo-masthead-blog-mhpronews-com.png\" width=\"470\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Ken Segall, addresses packed house at 2014 MHI Congress and Expo<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Author Ken Segall of <b>Apple<\/b> marketing fame had this message, <i>&#39;keep it insanely simple.&#39;<\/i> Segall said,<span style=\"color:#8b4513;\"><i><b>&quot;Simplicity&#8230;can move mountains.&quot;<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p>One of Ken&#39;s key points was that in a busy world, simplicity is appealing and effective with consumers and the public at large.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Fisher told industry attendees that 5 factors point to improved MH Industry demand:<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"chris-fisher2-market-set-for-high-demand-affordable-housing-2014-manufactured-housing-institute-mhi-congress-expo-masthead-blog-mhpronews-com\" height=\"100\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/chris-fisher2-market-set-for-high-demand-affordable-housing-2014-manufactured-housing-institute-mhi-congress-expo-masthead-blog-mhpronews-com.png\" style=\"float: right; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 10px; margin-left: 10px;\" width=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>population growth,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>more household formations,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>rising rental rates with low availability,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Recovering employment that is often part time work and<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Conventional Builders focusing more on higher end housing<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Chris Fisher provided reams of data, but simplified at the end to say that manufactured housing is well positioned for a steady rise for many years.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"chris-fisher-ducker-worldwide-2014-manufactured-housing-institute-congress-expo-masthead-blog-mhpronews-com\" height=\"189\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/chris-fisher-ducker-worldwide-2014-manufactured-housing-institute-congress-expo-masthead-blog-mhpronews-com.png\" style=\"float: right; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 10px; margin-left: 10px;\" width=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To maximize that opportunity, Fisher asserted that 4 investments were needed by industry organizations, two of which are music to our professional ears:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>targeted marketing and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>investments in training.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><b>MHProNews<\/b><\/i> interviewed both of these experts. At their mixer, HAS Capital was very thoughtful to give Next Step&#39;s Stacey Epperson the floor, as they explained a program that will place some 100 Energy Star manufactured homes in communities in 40 different markets. This includes the practice of &quot;holding court.&quot; While anyone in theory can grab a vacant chair in the halls outside the expo or meeting rooms, some of those who do so have reasons more important than merely checking their messages.<\/p>\n<p>Pull one of the larger industry players aside sometime, then ask them about the term &quot;holding court&quot; at an MHI event. Some are bound to smile that knowing smile&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Those hallway, dinner or bar discussions are not to be underestimated. For those who do those off-agenda meetings, it isn&#39;t about the education, as good as that may be.
