I enjoyed Thomas Friedman&#39;s geo-economic-political OpEd in the New York Times this morning, <i><b>Follow the Money<\/b><\/i>.<\/p><div id=\"manuf-2890492536\" class=\"manuf-content manuf-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3870480136270376\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3870480136270376\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"CENTER\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/04\/02\/opinion\/friedman-follow-the-money.html?emc=edit_th_20140402&amp;nl=todaysheadlines&amp;nlid=68933348\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/04\/02\/opinion\/friedman-follow-the-money.html?emc=edit_th_20140402&amp;nl=todaysheadlines&amp;nlid=68933348<\/a><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The analysis is fascinating, but the conclusion is flawed. Thus the quip, <span style=\"color:#a52a2a;\"><i><b>Thomas (Friedman), You&#39;re No Milton (Friedman)<\/b><\/i><\/span>. Just one pearl as an example.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#a52a2a;\">&ldquo;<b>So that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear. That there is no alternative way, so far discovered, of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by a free enterprise system.&rdquo; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>&#8211; Milton Friedman<\/b><\/p>\n<p>What we need are stronger doses of the <i><b>RealEco(nomic)Politic <\/b><\/i><b> <\/b>of the Thomas (Sowell&#39;s), who connect the dots because they are not clouding said dots before hand by struggling to prove a political agenda, typically via pounding a round-peg argument into a square-hole reality.<\/p>\n<p>Only the <i><b>clarity of truth<\/b><\/i> ultimately cuts through the smoke of battle, in global, national or <i>manufactured housing&#39;s<\/i><b> politics<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Clouded Thinking<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Sure, avoid war when possible, but what if it isn&#39;t (we aren&#39;t taking about Crimea here&#8230;not all conflict is military) avoidable?<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"british-troops-smoke-battle-el-alamein-1942-credit-wikicommons-posted-masthead-MHProNews-com\" height=\"219\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/british-troops-smoke-battle-el-alamein-1942-credit-wikicommons-posted-masthead-MHProNews-com.jpg\" style=\"float: right; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 10px; margin-left: 10px;\" width=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When the smoke of battle clouds the field of action, it&#39;s understandable that some &#8211; or even many &#8211; won&#39;t see clearly.<\/p>\n<p>This is when clarity of thought must trump mere emotion or habitual reactions born of past patterns.<\/p>\n<p>In the NYT analysis linked above, what&#39;s missing (among other puzzle pieces) is the fact that a more robust domestic Fracking Policy would (have):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>boosted the U.S. economy more,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>would (have) made Western Europe (NATO nations) less dependent on Russian energy,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>would (have) made us less dependent on OPEC,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>would (have) yielded nominally lower U.S. energy costs, and in turn<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>would (have) made U.S. factory goods costs lower viz-a-vis still communist China, because of their need for imported energy and shipping cost differentials.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Those would make the world a safer place, with more working Americans who would be richer instead of poorer, deficits smaller and then we&#39;d all be selling more manufactured homes.<\/p>\n<p>Because to have such policies would imply that the economy would be more robust, PLUS suggests that the kind of over-reach that created Dodd-Frank and the CFPB would be mitigated.<\/p>\n<p>We can achieve such things, not alone, but it can be done when we pull together with enough others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"chess-set--royal-credit-wikicommons-posted-masthead-MHProNews-com-\" height=\"337\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/chess-set--royal-credit-wikicommons-posted-masthead-MHProNews-com-.jpg\" width=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Chess, Geo-Economic-Politics and Manufactured Housing<\/b><\/p>\n<p>When you play chess, you don&#39;t think of one piece, you must look at them all. You don&#39;t think one move ahead, or you&#39;ve already lost if you&#39;re up against a superior player.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"checkmate-chess-credit-wikicommons-posted-masthead-MHProNews-com\" height=\"158\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/checkmate-chess-credit-wikicommons-posted-masthead-MHProNews-com.jpg\" style=\"float: right; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 10px; margin-left: 10px;\" width=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You must think several moves ahead, about your pieces, theirs and the ever fluid situation that develops on the chess (think<b>: <\/b><i><b>Geo-Economic-Political<\/b><\/i><b>) <\/b>board.<\/p>\n<p>Our MH Industry could hold the keys to the 2014 mid-terms and beyond, with &#8211;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>some 200,000 MHIndustry Pros,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>plus some 20,000,000 residents living in our homes! &#8211;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230;but the clock is ticking&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and we will return to the above, hopefully within the next ten days.<\/p>\n<p>For the moment, let&#39;s shift gears to immediate issue(s ;-).<\/p>\n<p><b>April Showers!
