The perceived political prize is the future votes of an estimated 11 million Hispanics currently living in the U.S. without proper documents. Without delving into the details or policy, let&#39;s ask this question of keen interest to our industry. If 11 million votes are so important, aren&#39;t 23 million votes important too?<\/p><div id=\"manuf-3467833150\" class=\"manuf-content manuf-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3870480136270376\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3870480136270376\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>The estimated numbers of owners\/residents of pre-HUD Code and post HUD Code manufactured housing hovers around 23 million.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"capital-dc-2-mhmsm-com.jpg\" height=\"194\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/capital-dc-2-mhmsm-com.jpg\" style=\"float: left; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 10px; margin-left: 10px;\" width=\"270\" \/>How will those manufactured home owners react if they learn their Congressman and Senator(s) didn&#39;t pass the needed legislative fix.<\/p>\n<p>Most of those owners don&#39;t realize that CFPB regs &#8211; if not amended by HR1779 before mid-January 2014 &#8211; will harm their access to lending and thus their resale values.<\/p>\n<p>Are manufactured home owners treated as less important than other voting groups?<\/p>\n<p><b>Organize!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We mentioned last year a number of times how manufactured home owners, business people and associations, if they were well aligned politically, could constitute one f the most powerful voting blocks in the U.S..<\/p>\n<p>So how do we make that happen?<\/p>\n<p>First, let&#39;s note as an example that some already reach out to MHC residents to support HR 1779.<\/p>\n<p>Also, at least one major lender has reportedly reached out to their financed customers for support of HR 1779 too. There are no doubt others.<\/p>\n<p>So why not systematically do such an outreach, from coast to coast?<\/p>\n<p><b>Sooner or later<\/b><\/p>\n<p>With the unintended consequences of Dodd-Frank and the SAFE Act bearing down in mid January, 2014, it seems like there will be more than one opportunity to make the dream of aligned home owners, businesses and associations a reality.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, why not ask your Congressman or Senators &#8211; if they are not yet on board &#8211; if they want to risk the ire of those home owners, businesses and their friends and family?<\/p>\n<p><b>Remind MH Owners of their Value<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Society all too often disrespects manufactured home owners. They do so out of ignorance, our outdated &#39;information&#39; oft repeated. So it is no surprise that many MH owners need a reminder as to why they made a sound decision.
