During our conversation, Jenny emailed the item below, which is used with her permission:<\/p><div id=\"manuf-1562925418\" class=\"manuf-content manuf-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3870480136270376\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3870480136270376\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Observations on <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Common Errors in Change Efforts<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&bull;Allowing too much complacency<\/p>\n<p>&bull;Failing to create a sufficiently powerful guiding coalition<\/p>\n<p>&bull;Underestimating the power of vision<\/p>\n<p>&bull;Under-communicating the vision by a factor of 10 (or 100 or 1000)<\/p>\n<p>&bull;Permitting obstacles to block the new vision<\/p>\n<p>&bull;Failing to create short-term wins<\/p>\n<p>&bull;Declaring victory too soon<\/p>\n<p>&bull;Neglecting to anchor changes firmly in the culture<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;from <i><b>Leading Change<\/b><\/i> by John Kotter.<\/p>\n<p>In my pervious blog post on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/?p=4914\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color:#f00;\"><i><b>Leadership<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/a>, we explored insights and quotes from great leaders and thinkers on that topic, which goes hand-in-hand with change.<\/p>\n<p>One or my favorite examples of the importance of being a team player is in the movie, <i><b>Top Gun<\/b><\/i>. &quot;Maverick&quot; (played by Tom Cruise) learns the hard way that &#39;<i><b>you never leave your wing man.&#39;<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Maverick<i><b> <\/b><\/i>was doing things differently &#8211; he was ready for and into change &#8211; but the movie showed how self-centered or ego driven change was dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>Maverick was failing to create a coalition, in fact, he was in rebellion with leadership.
