Personal property (chattel, home only) loans are now hovering in the 70-75% range of all manufactured home financing. This is up from about 60% of all manufactured home loans which being financed via personal property\/home only loans.<\/p>\n<p>While one of the many benefits of manufactured housing is that you can finance the &ldquo;home only&rdquo; &#8211; sans real estate &ndash; it seems logical that as the Dodd-Frank juggernaut keeps coming, we should be diversifying efforts and access more lending that is land\/home. Many land-home loans will be considered QMs under Dodd-Frank, as the regulations now stand. That means, they will escape many of the hassles and head aches the CFPB will otherwise be imposing on non-QM loans.<\/p>\n<p>FYI, a presentation related to the topic of more land-home financing will take place at the TMHA&#39;s annual meeting, and they just launched their new website for that, which <u><a href=\"https:\/\/m360.texasmha.com\/frontend\/event.aspx?EventId=49873\" target=\"_blank\">is linked here<\/a><\/u>. TMHA will also have a panel of lenders, including home only and land\/home lending.<\/p>\n<p><b>An Update: <\/b><i><b>Improving Industry&#39;s Image with the Public<\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>We&#39;ve updated the page on the new public-targeted <u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.MHLivingNews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><i><b>MHLivingNews.com<\/b><\/i><\/a><\/u> site that now compares how a site built vs. manufactured homes handle tornadoes\/high wind events.
