<\/em>How about this idea!\u00a0 Why not a photo of the two of them talking about how each can support the other on items of importance to your respective members?<\/p>\n<p>Let me pose this question.\u00a0 Are we making progress yet regarding the relationship between the two national manufactured housing trade associations?<\/p>\n<p>The answer?<\/p>\n<p><em>Perhaps. <\/em>A solid &#8216;maybe.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, Danny Ghorbani called MHProNews.com to make an official statement.\u00a0 You can see that statement linked in our popular<a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/mharr-officially-supports-dodd-frank-and-safe-act-reform-by-mhindustry.php\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em> Daily Business News<\/em><\/strong> right here<\/a>.\u00a0 There was even more said unofficially.\u00a0 Time will tell how some of that may roll out.<\/p>\n<p>While proof is always in the doing, the statement itself gives reason to think there is\u00a0 progress from the MHARR camp\u2019s outreach.<\/p>\n<p>So what about Thayer Long and MHI?<\/p>\n<p>As an MHI member, MHMSM.com asked Thayer that question last Friday.\u00a0 While no official, on the record statement was made, an interesting conversation took place.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see if MHI and MHARR presidents &#8216;doing lunch&#8217; happens&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beyond Doing Lunch.\u00a0 Doing the Industry<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s necessary business.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most of us won\u2019t get too excited until we see real actions on both sides, and not for a just a meal \u2013 or for day a two &#8211; but for a sustained period of time.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2026\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2026\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2026\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/thayer-danny-are-we-making-progress-yet\/doing_lunch_kennymatic_flickr_cc_001\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2026\" title=\"doing_lunch_kennymatic_flickr_cc_001\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/doing_lunch_kennymatic_flickr_cc_001-150x99.png\" alt=\"doing_lunch_kennymatic_flickr_cc_posted manufactured home marketing sales management MHMSM.com MHProNews.com\" width=\"150\" height=\"99\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/doing_lunch_kennymatic_flickr_cc_001-150x99.png 150w, https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/doing_lunch_kennymatic_flickr_cc_001.png 562w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2026\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Thayer and Danny - doing Lunch in DC?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MHI\u2019s manufacturing base produces roughly 3 times what MHARR\u2019s manufacturers do.\u00a0 Some observers speculate that MHI is less motivated to actively lobby on behalf of the full and proper implementation of the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000 (MHIA 2000), because larger plants are more able to absorb the costs of regulations, inspections, lobbying, etc.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, some industry observers believe that this is the very <em>raison <\/em><em>d&#8217;\u00eatre<\/em><em> <\/em>for MHARR.<\/p>\n<p>Full implementation of MHIA 2000 is not just a MHARR or MHI issue.\u00a0 It is an issue for states, it is an issue for retailers and communities, as well as our consumers.\u00a0 So it is one that should strike home for all manufactured housing professionals. It is as logical for MHI to support MHARR on this, as it is for MHARR to support MHI on issues such as reforms of the Dodd-Frank or SAFE Act.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For whatever reasons, the Olive Branch is extended. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It sounds like MHARR has held out an olive branch to MHI.\u00a0 So like good lobbyists, this sounds like a good time for MHI to lend MHARR a hand on regulatory issues.<\/p>\n<p>Thayer, Danny, please do keep us informed about your lunch plans.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s all keep an eye on that, shall we?<\/p>\n<p>Because there is more than just local, state or national issues looming\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>We Are No Longer Operating in a Vacuum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Currently, about 98% of our growing audience is in the U.S. and Canada.\u00a0 That means that 2% is from overseas.\u00a0 Some of those from other nations are interested in investing.\u00a0 Others have eyes on our market.<\/p>\n<p>But the most recent should give us all pause.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are the Chinese Coming to North American housing markets?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For some time, we&#8217;ve had companies from different parts of the world contacting us about their products and services.<\/p>\n<p>A Chinese company with some pretty American looking marketing materials has contacted us.
