{"id":1839,"date":"2011-06-10T17:02:06","date_gmt":"2011-06-10T22:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/?p=1839"},"modified":"2011-06-10T23:34:52","modified_gmt":"2011-06-11T04:34:52","slug":"reading-the-tea-leaves-of-manufactured-housing-news-out-of-the-ashes-phoenix-rising-revisited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/reading-the-tea-leaves-of-manufactured-housing-news-out-of-the-ashes-phoenix-rising-revisited\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading the Tea Leaves of Manufactured Housing News &#8211; Out of the ashes, Phoenix Rising revisited"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just reviewed a housing news item for our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/harvard-study-asserts-16-million-new-homes-needed-in-ten-years.php\"><strong>Daily Business News<\/strong><\/a> blog.\u00a0 In the next decade, we need 16 million new housing units in the U.S.\u00a0<a href=\"..\/..\/daily-business-news\/harvard-study-asserts-16-million-new-homes-needed-in-ten-years.php\"><\/a> So, even though we are in the midst of this great foreclosure and housing finance debacle, we are on the brink of a boom driven by what every truly sound economist wants&#8230;<\/p><div id=\"manuf-1060935029\" class=\"manuf-content manuf-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3870480136270376\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3870480136270376\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8230;necessity!\u00a0 Market forces!<\/p>\n<p>There are indeed a lot of seemingly complex signs, so &#8216;reading the tea leaves&#8217; of manufactured housing news may seem to be a daunting task.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, with a little time and perspective, things can come into sharper focus.<\/p>\n<p>There has been and will be a shakedown and shake out.\u00a0 Some will survive, and then thrive, as many industry pros predict in the <a href=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhousingrevolution.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>Manufactured Housing Revolution<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There will be more consolidations.\u00a0\u00a0 It may be like Cavco \u2013 Fleetwood \u2013 Palm Harbor, or it may look like ELS and Hometown America, etc.<\/p>\n<p>We see Dodd-Frank as a dagger in the heart of below $78,000.\u00a0 BTW, I&#8217;m told that number is being double-checked by members of the MH Lending Dodd-Frank task force.\u00a0 That said, based on my understanding of the formula for arriving at the number $78,000, that number is likely to stand.\u00a0 You can see that covered in my two last <strong>Masthead<\/strong> blog posts. If you missed it, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/got-a-manufactured-housing-question-ask-an-expert\/\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a> for the last one, which links to the prior on this topic.<\/p>\n<p>We see interest and motivation for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/a-national-industry-image-campaign-discussion-starter\/\" target=\"_blank\">a national image campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many &#8211; including this writer &#8211; believe it should have national coverage and some common elements, but that such a PR\/marketing campaign should have localized (state, regional) market focus.\u00a0 All business is done locally!\u00a0 The homes sold in Texas are not those sold in the Pacific Northwest, or like those in FL or Chicagoland, etc.<\/p>\n<p>We see interest in aligning.<\/p>\n<p>This industry today is a puzzle with a lot of moving pieces.\u00a0 It is no longer a simple picture.\u00a0 But that doesn&#8217;t mean there are no profits to be made.\u00a0 There are.\u00a0 Some are making them.\u00a0 Some are selling out.\u00a0 Some are closing or winding down.\u00a0 Where will you be in this mix?<\/p>\n<p>What will you say to yourself in 5 or 10 years?\u00a0 Your plans and actions now will determine that answer.<\/p>\n<p>Over a year ago, you may have read \u2013 <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/manufactured-housing-phoenix-arising-or-endangered-species\/ \" target=\"_blank\">Out of the ashes, Phoenix rising<\/a>.<\/em><\/strong> That is how things happen in the market place.\u00a0 Death is followed by a kind of new resurrection.\u00a0 A flame-charred forest is followed by new growth.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/INspiration\/buggy-whips-bailout-news-item-100-years-ago-today\/ \" target=\"_blank\">horse and buggy business<\/a> essentially died.
