Kennedy\u2019s vision for putting an American on the moon was fulfilled. It was in a sense a great competition between the United States of America (USA)\u00a0 and the now defunct Soviet Union. Kennedy\u2019s life was tragically snuffed out by an assassin\u2019s kill shot years prior to this event, preventing him from witnessing what much of the world watched in amazement.<\/span><\/span><\/p><div id=\"manuf-3017173284\" class=\"manuf-content manuf-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3870480136270376\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3870480136270376\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are some parallels between POTUS Jack Kennedy and President Ronald Reagan we\u2019ve mentioned before. Tax cuts that spurred economic growth were among them. But the two came from either side of the left-right Democratic and Republican major party aisles. It is worth mentioning that in my youth, my parents were Kennedy Democrats who became Reagan Republicans. One might wonder if John Kennedy, had he lived, would he have drifted as far left as his brother Senator Ted Kennedy did? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What was overlooked and covered up in the Kennedy era &#8211; womanizing &#8211; is held over the head of the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. We believe in facts and evidence here.\u00a0 Accuracy, reason, and the truth matter. What Kennedy and former Democrat Reagan did on the federal tax rate is what POTUS Donald J. Trump managed to get passed in Congress in late 2017. Each time a federal tax cut has been properly tried, it has routinely succeeded in boosting the economy, job creation, and more. So given the track record, why is it vilified now, when it was celebrated over 5 decades ago?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gg5Ncc9GODY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Housing &#8211; the Lunar Landing, Then and to Come<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As a kid about the age of our 12 year old son, like millions of others, we watched mesmerized at that one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But there are still conspiracy theories that man never went to the moon at all. It was, per some theorists, done mostly on a movie set. Never mind the fact that Russian radar could track the Apollo 11 spacecraft just as well as America\u2019s could. Logic doesn\u2019t bother the true believer in a fantasy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Those conspiracy theories are often captivated by a belief in a &#8216;<strong>deep fake<\/strong>.&#8217; In fairness, it is worth believing in the <em>possibility<\/em> of slight of hands, as throughout the centuries, people have been subjected to and subverted by all kinds of deception. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But not every event is a hoax or conspiracy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The White House press room sent this today as part of a longer release. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">\u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>President Donald J. Trump has committed to putting Americans back on the Moon by 2024, establishing a human presence there by 2028, and charting a path for the eventual exploration of Mars from there<\/b><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Among the possible options or plans for housing on the moon or Mars is 3D printing. There are other options, but that one certainly has some factors that favor it. What we don\u2019t expect is HUD Code manufactured homes on either heavenly body any time soon.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s clarify that, we never expect a HUD Code home on the moon. What works on planet Earth would not on the lunar surface or on planet Mars.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">That said, m<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">anufactured housing sounds <em>too good to be true to millions<\/em> of people today for a variety of reasons. A sometimes skeptical people need evidence. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/hbos-john-oliver-on-last-week-tonight-mobile-homes-video-manufactured-home-communities-fact-check\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Given reports like this one<\/a>, c<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">an you blame them? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">When<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"> someone is doubting the veracity of a salesperson, you wouldn&#8217;t likely\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">see that skeptic turn to the sales manager for the desired proof. Third parties are far more useful for that verification of a claim.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Furthermore, if a source has proven time and again to be false, or misleading, then skeptical minds <em>grow<\/em> in their doubt. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Those are among the reasons why the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/affordable-housing-needed-corporate-corruption-and-manufactured-homes-time-to-get-federal-officials-fully-involved\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI)\u00a0<\/a><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">can\u2019t be the leader of the industry\u2019s come back. There have been far t<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">oo many head fakes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/manufactured-home-resident-leader-asks-for-federal-investigations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">MHI is doubted by resident groups and leaders<\/span><\/a><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">, perhaps understandably so.\u00a0 What is a bit surprising\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">is that some <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">independents within manufactured housing still\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">trust MHI. While MHI loves to do photo ops with political leaders, having spoken with staffers, we hear that they have a reputation for being anti-consumer.\u00a0 Ouch, but given stories like this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/presidential-hopeful-campaigns-in-manufactured-home-community-congressional-rep-cindy-axne-raising-concerns-over-bbb-f-rated-havenpark-capital-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one highlighted by Democratic\u00a0<\/a><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">presidential contenders, can you blame them?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">That said, 5 years ago, this writer was among those who did &#8216;trust&#8217; MHI, even though we disagreed on several issues. <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">I sat on an MHI board, elected by my peers. MHI leaders cheered much of what we did, in writing and on camera. They did so even though we were known from time to time to hold a different view, often the position held by MHI rival MHARR, the <a href=\"https:\/\/manufacturedhousingassociationregulatoryreform.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">We made no secret that on some issues we held MHI\u2019s position, sometimes <a href=\"https:\/\/manufacturedhousingassociationregulatoryreform.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MHARR<\/a>&#8216;s<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">, and sometimes, we held our own distinct view. All in the mix, then and now, knew that to be true. People like then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/TimWilliamsToRephraseMHITonyBothCorrectThereisNoDaylight21stMortgageCorpMHIChairmmanufacturedHousingProNews.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MHI Chairman Tim Williams<\/a>, MHI\u2019s president, and others <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/TimWilliams21stMortgageCorpPriorMHIChairmanPraisingMHLivingNewsMHProNewsTonyKovach.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">praised our work<\/a> \u2013 arguably because they knew that getting our support on a position had meaning.\u00a0 We were not MHI toadies or sycophants, as years of articles during that timeframe reveal. Indeed, one could argue that their maneuvers were due in part to the fact that we were independent in thought.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">For good or ill, MHI went to considerable lengths to influence this writer. Perhaps their reasoning is found in the paragraph above.\u00a0 We had the largest audience, then and now.\u00a0 We thought independently.\u00a0 Our tag line \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>We Provide, You Decide<\/b><\/span>,\u201d \u00a9 was born in part due to our willingness to share the viewpoints of various voices within the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With good will, but naively, we thought and sought to bring the parties together.\u00a0 That didn\u2019t work. But the photo below was supposed to symbolize that effort. In hindsight, it was a na\u00efve effort, however well intended. <\/i><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">We began this platform\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">when there was a dearth of trade media in MHVille. By\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">contrast today, there are now\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">several trade publishers or bloggers<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">, almost all of whom are supported by MHI, save this one.\u00a0 Those others provide almost no content that presently\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">is obviously contrary to the MHI viewpoint. Only one periodical <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">shares content from MHARR. We alone share what MHARR does and have done so for years.\u00a0 We used to share everything from MHI, until they insisted \u2013 using a threatening letter from their attorney, that we stop doing so. Other threats from MHI have come via inside or outside counsel. At first, their reasoning was a mystery.\u00a0 In hindsight, it is no longer obscure.\u00a0 That begged the question, why did they want us to stop doing what we did for years? But they didn&#8217;t explain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">That said, as we matured as a publisher and did some research of our own, we found the ideal way to showcase MHI\u2019s perspective despite their insistence that we not do so. It is called <strong>fair use<\/strong>, which when used by news media within set guidelines, is lawful.\u00a0 When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/lanham-act-monopolistic-housing-institute-err-manufactured-housing-institute-legal-bullies-and-you\/\">MHI\u2019s outside counsel threatened us anew, we hit back with the facts and published it<\/a>. There was also a lawful shot across the bow of their outside attorney, who has since that time been pretty quiet himself. Interesting\u2026?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">But all of that begs questions. <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'; margin: 0px; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Why did MHI undermine our pro-manufactured home industry growth efforts in the first place?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'; margin: 0px; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Why did key people with MHI \u2013 per several sources \u2013 encourage our advertisers to do so no more? After all MHI, Clayton Homes, 21<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">st<\/span><\/sup> Mortgage Corp were among those that not only advertised here, but praised us in the process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'; margin: 0px; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Why did MHI provide support and encouragement for our rival publications?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'; margin: 0px; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Keep in mind they did much, but not all, of that during the time we were publicly supporting them on the logic for <i>Preserving Access<\/i> \u2013 why undermine a supporter? One whom they had publicly praised for years?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'; margin: 0px; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">In hindsight, we now see <i>Preserving Access <\/i>differently. The logic for the bill remained, but the bill was never designed to pass into law, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/rope-a-dope-preserving-access-to-manufactured-housing-act-mom-dad-you\/\">we outlined in \u201cRope-a-Dope<\/a>\u201d and elsewhere. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Moon Walks and Conspiracy Theories<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Yes,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">conspiracy theories aside, man has walked on the moon.\u00a0 That one small step for man, that one giant leap for mankind took place 50 years ago today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">But what is demonstrably based upon evidence, stands close scrutiny of logic, stands unrefuted by those we\u2019ve called into question is that MHI postures efforts without delivering effective results. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/texas-florida-cities-plan-manufactured-home-ban-legacy-housing-fmha-lance-inderman-jessup-housing-react\/<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">MHI and their backers and puppets response has arguably been modern\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">variations on what was called <strong>the Big Lie<\/strong> in Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. Enhanced Preemption, other aspects of the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act (MHIA) of 2000, the Duty to Serve manufactured housing, several good laws already on the books ought to make HUD Code manufactured housing soar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">But instead, it is snoring.\u00a0 That fact, during an affordable housing crisis, with a product that has proven itself for decades successfully, borders on magic.\u00a0 While MHARR has done yeoman\u2019s work for decades, stubbornly citing facts at each step \u2013 something the deserve great credit for \u2013 no trade publisher has even come close to unlocking the realities of the industry versus the illusion being painted by others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/trailers-for-sale-or-rent-build-to-rent-trend-manufactured-homes-and-communities\/<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #323a45; font-family: 'Tahoma',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">The moon walk that occurred 50 years ago today could be successfully mimicked NOW with a variety of special effects. But then?
