Count the <em>Masthead\u2019s<\/em> industry veteran\u2019s author among them. Buying into manufactured housing now is like buying a stock that is significantly\u00a0undervalued, and is potentially poised for serious growth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The odds are <em>good to great<\/em> that everyone reading this has:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an interest in manufactured housing, and<\/li>\n<li>believes manufactured homes <em>could<\/em> play an important part of the solution for America\u2019s growing affordable housing crisis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We believe that too.<\/p>\n<p>Those in the industry, investors, media, public officials, advocates, and researchers all have viewpoints, and many have questions.<\/p>\n<p>While it would take time to ramp up to 500,000 or 1 million new manufactured homes a year, it\u2019s doable with the correct resources, plus the kind of long-term commitment that Warren Buffett\u2019s Berkshire Hathaway brands \u2013 along with other success stories in the industry &#8211; What were they thinking at UI?<\/p>\n<p>And doesn\u2019t that make their research at least appear to be at COI, and\u00a0not much more than a higher class of\u00a0one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/we-want-your-money-2018-mhi-membership-infographic-fact-check\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MHI\u2019s controversial paid advertorials<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conflicts of Interest &#8211; COI<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the facts presented, and uncovered to date, it implies the report has Berkshire Hathaway, Clayton Homes, 21st Mortgage, and the Manufactured Housing Institute\u2019s finger prints all over it.<\/p>\n<p>See the flash <em>Daily Business News<\/em> initial report, linked below.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/follow-the-money-controversial-urban-institute-report-on-manufactured-housing\/<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One need not be an attorney, journalist, or researcher to realize that it all smells of<em> conflicts of interest<\/em>.\u00a0 While this writer isn\u2019t an attorney, one concurred with our assessment. As with all of our reports, fisking, fact-checks, commentary and analysis, we encourage readers to do their own homework, and\u00a0see for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>That said, <strong><em>why where those apparent conflicts of interest not disclosed?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Begging the Questions&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That clear lack of transparency begs several questions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why not disclose their respective interests and involvements?<\/li>\n<li>Who benefits from the UI report on manufactured housing?<\/li>\n<li>What does the report steer people<em> to look at<\/em>, as they ponder the manufactured housing industry?<\/li>\n<li>What does the <em>report steer people away from looking at<\/em>, as they research manufactured housing as an important solution for the affordable housing crisis? that\u2019s true from the vantage point of a non-Berkshire Hathaway brand, or from someone who isn\u2019t part of their insider
