Randy Rowe&#8217;s 5-Point Plan for Manufactured Housing Recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next week, we will launch our new March issue.\u00a0 It will feature a number of various perspectives on manufactured housing associations.\u00a0 You either are or are not a member of an association.\u00a0 Either way, you have a perspective, and you may find the commentary and discussion eye opening.\u00a0 Two other MH CONSORTIUM publishers sparked this discussion.\u00a0 While our one March issue on this subject won&#8217;t bring closure, it will bring more to light from the varying perspectives.<\/p><div id=\"manuf-894108657\" class=\"manuf-content manuf-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3870480136270376\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3870480136270376\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>Sometimes when ideas clash, the sparks can shed light.<\/p>\n<p>As we move from sparks and vigorous discussion, we may also see apathy.\u00a0 An industry leader spoke to me this past week about apathy in manufactured housing circles.\u00a0 Dictionary.com says this about apathy:<\/p>\n<p>ap\u00b7a\u00b7thy \u00a0(noun)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement.<\/li>\n<li>lack of interest in or concern for things that others find moving or exciting.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>There are many possible reasons for apathy.\u00a0 One may be a feeling of powerlessness.\u00a0 A person may feel they don&#8217;t have a voice or a say.\u00a0 It may be fear or the paralysis of over analysis.\u00a0 Lacking the federal funding for a study of all who are &#8216;apathetic,&#8217; let&#8217;s just say that apathy has roots.\u00a0 It is worth noting that some may seem apathetic, but are not engaged for other reasons that may not be obvious.<\/p>\n<p>Apathy is a choice, just as action is a choice.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s return for a few moments to the clash of ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the vision for the free press in America was this notion. By presenting ideas and then candidly discussing them in the public square, possible solutions could be found.\u00a0 It was the notion that the clash of ideas, respectfully discussed, could bring clarity to a subject. In the study of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/jim-collins-%E2%80%93-%E2%80%98good-to-great%E2%80%99-and-manufactured-housing\/\"><strong><em>Good to Great<\/em><\/strong><\/a> companies, we saw that vigorous discussion and debate often lead to clarity and success.<\/p>\n<p>This ideal of the free press has never been fully realized.\u00a0 But the potential for making the free press a way to spark and engage public discussion is now more real than ever!<\/p>\n<p>With the Internet and the ability to post reasonable comments \u2013 or write directly to the editor for your own <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/industryvoices\/\">guest column<\/a> \u2013 makes it possible.\u00a0 This Manufactured Housing news and views media platform \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/\"><strong>MHMSM.com<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 can be one of the ways that you or others you know can sound off.<\/p>\n<p>This is also a way for your voice and others to be heard.<\/p>\n<p>Through vigorous discussion \u2013 in that clash of ideas done with mutual respect \u2013 solutions can come to light. \u00a0So I applaud those who take the time to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/bobstovall\/leaving-a-comment-on-mhmsm-using-disqus\/\"><strong>sound off<\/strong><\/a> intelligently and respectfully.\u00a0\u00a0 We also must understand that those who sit quietly on the sidelines do so for a reason.<\/p>\n<p>A very bright and successful professional shared with me the idea of KYP.\u00a0 KYP is short for Know Your Prospect.\u00a0 If you research your prospect, if you truly understand and know them, then you can craft an invitation and an offer that will appeal to them.\u00a0 More to the point, if you know your prospect, you can better deliver what they need, want and can afford.<\/p>\n<p>Research is thus important in the Know Your Prospect process.<\/p>\n<p>We have a great product in manufactured homes.\u00a0 Land lease communities can offer great value that needs to be better presented. \u00a0Many believe factory built homes ought to be front page news and in broadcasts or on cable from coast to coast.\u00a0 Factory building is far more accepted, another caller told me last week, in Europe or Japan than in the U.S. Our recent article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/industryvoices\/into-the-great-green-north\/\"><strong>factory built homes in Canada<\/strong><\/a> should make us realize that we have work to do here in the U.S. that will enhance our acceptance in the housing market place.<\/p>\n<p>We can and should be able to do much better than we have been.<\/p>\n<p>Last year at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/candid-reality-checks-rallies-and-manufactured-housing\/ \"><strong><em>International Networking Roundtable<\/em><\/strong><\/a> in Phoenix, Randy Rowe presented his five point plan for manufactured housing industry recovery.\u00a0 We will be looking at that plan, because it deserves more attention.\u00a0 We need to share ideas and engage each other so that the best ideas can come to the surface.
