\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>This is a famous line from the movie, <strong><em>Cool Hand Luke<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 480px; margin: 15px auto;\"><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"480\" height=\"390\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1fuDDqU6n4o\" frameborder=\"0\" allowFullScreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cool-hand-luke.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1316\" title=\"cool-hand-luke\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cool-hand-luke.png\" alt=\"Failure to communicate - from movie Cool Hand Luke\" width=\"195\" height=\"146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cool-hand-luke.png 195w, https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cool-hand-luke-150x112.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The failure to communicate can have serious consequences, including getting knocked down, kicked around and otherwise beaten up.\u00a0 Does any of that sound familiar?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cool-hand-luke-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1317\" title=\"cool-hand-luke-2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cool-hand-luke-2.png\" alt=\"Failure to communicate - from movie Cool Hand Luke\" width=\"189\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cool-hand-luke-2.png 189w, https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cool-hand-luke-2-150x119.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 189px) 100vw, 189px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We routinely get messages, calls or comments from industry pros, many of whom understandably lament the state of our great Industry.\u00a0 The state of our MH Industry is directly and indirectly tied to the <em>&#8216;failure to communicate:&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, to enough new home consumers, especially those who are more credit worthy or can pay cash.<\/li>\n<li>Next, to enough current and prior manufactured home owners, to get and keep them as a powerful pool of potential allies, for mutually beneficial political and economic purposes.<\/li>\n<li>The 19-20 million or so owners of mobile and manufactured homes should be a high priority for any sound strategy to lift the manufactured housing industry from its sub-50,000 shipment levels to those far higher.<\/li>\n<li>We have powerful messages of quality, appeal, energy efficiency, green construction, affordability and durability.<\/li>\n<li>If we are honest with each other, many who work in our companies do not grasp the full value of what our Industry offers.<\/li>\n<li>We have to get our own troops on board, which will help line up more support among consumers and thus to others in the broader public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You know how I love a good quotation.\u00a0 Please consider these quotes:<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cSometimes it is not good enough to do your best; you have to do what is required.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Winston Churchill<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cAlmost any idea is good if a man has the ability and is willing to work hard.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>The best idea is worthless if the creator is a loafer and ineffective.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">William Feather<\/p>\n<p><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cIt takes less time to do a thing right than it does to explain why you did it wrong.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Henry Wadsworth Longfellow<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cOnly in growth, reform and change, paradoxically enough, is true security found.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Anne Morrow Lindbergh<\/p>\n<p><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em> New ideas pass through three periods:<br \/>\n&#8211; It can\u2019t be done.<br \/>\n&#8211; It probably can be done, but it\u2019s not worth doing.<br \/>\n&#8211; I knew it was a good idea all along!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Arthur C. Clarke<\/p>\n<p>There will always be naysayers to any good idea, to any worthwhile cause.\u00a0 That includes the cause of manufactured housing and our industry&#8217;s success!<\/p>\n<p>During England&#8217;s darkest day following the Nazi military conquest of France and much of Western Europe, Winston Churchill never publicly waivered.\u00a0 Churchill was firm in his stated belief that despite the odds, that somehow, England would not just survive, but prevail over the German forces under Adolf Hitler&#8217;s control.\u00a0 We need that same type of resolve, that same type of understanding and commitment to our Industry and the unmatched value we can offer the home buying public!<\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t have to be Cool Hand Luke to prevail in the end.\u00a0 We need to communicate our value to our circles of influence: to our immediate team, to our customers, to prospective customers and the country at large.<\/p>\n<p>Former House Speaker Tip O&#8217;Neill once said, <strong><em>\u201cAll politics is local.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> In a real sense, this is true of influence, image making and marketing, too.\u00a0 If we are a positive influence in our local market, if we light our candle and protect that flame and its light, we can and will prevail.\u00a0 The more who do so, the more rapidly we do it, the faster our Industry&#8217;s turn-around will come.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t wait on your neighbor!\u00a0 Take action yourself.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t have to be heroic; it is the little things daily that often make for great results over time.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the many events, networking and other professional opportunities found at the upcoming <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/the-great-southwest-home-show\">2011 Great Southwest Home Show in Tulsa<\/a><\/strong> will be our <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/dominate-your-local-market\"><strong>Dominate Your Local Market<\/strong><\/a><\/em><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>seminar.\u00a0 George F.
