They are recruiting members in manufactured home communities. Frank Rolfe and Dave Reynold lead RV Horizons and Equity LifeStyle Properties (ELS) are but two examples of groups that MHAction has targeted. \u00a0Note, we defended ELS, though they aren&#8217;t an MHProNews client. This is about facts, and industry solidarity. We strive in principle to act in the best interests of the industry, which ought to be the role of a pro-industry trade publisher.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhpronews.com\/blogs\/daily-business-news\/media-based-attack-on-investor-owned-communitiesthe-private-equity-takeover-of-americas-neighborhoods\/\">Media-Based Attack on Investor-Owned Communities = \u2019The Private Equity Takeover of America\u2019s Neighborhoods\u2019<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the West Coast, another activist group recently worked to pass <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhpronews.com\/blogs\/daily-business-news\/rent-control-measure-victorious-questions-issues-remain\/\">Measure V in California<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>NPR\u2019s <strong><em>All Things Considered<\/em><\/strong> \u2018report\u2019 \u00a0(actually, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhpronews.com\/blogs\/industryvoices\/todd-lamb-on-nprs-mobile-home-park-owners-can-spoil-an-affordable-american-dream\/\">Todd Lamb is right, it&#8217;s thinly disguised advocacy<\/a>)\u00a0by Daniel Zwerdling,\u00a0entitled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhpronews.com\/blogs\/daily-business-news\/williams-weiss-lamb-rip-nprs-mobile-home-park-owners-can-spoil-an-affordable-american-dream\/\">Mobile Home Park Owners Can Spoil An Affordable American Dream<\/a>\u201d is another example of media being used to target manufactured housing, in that case, communities.<\/p>\n<p>But in 2015 and 2016, it was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/media-should-re-visit-dodd-frank-reporting-in-light-of-congressional-testimony\/\">Seattle Times<\/a> \u2013 which frequently acted in concert with others like the Center for Public Integrity and <em>BuzzFeed News<\/em> \u2013 to attack industry giant Clayton Homes and their sister operations in MH lending.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12974\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12974\" style=\"width: 428px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/media-should-re-visit-dodd-frank-reporting-in-light-of-congressional-testimony\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12974\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/MediaShouldRevistDodd-FrankReportingManufacturedHomeLivingNewsPostedMastheadBlogMHProNews-.png\" alt=\"MediaShouldRevistDodd-FrankReportingManufacturedHomeLivingNewsPostedMastheadBlogMHProNews-\" width=\"428\" height=\"108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/MediaShouldRevistDodd-FrankReportingManufacturedHomeLivingNewsPostedMastheadBlogMHProNews-.png 428w, https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/MediaShouldRevistDodd-FrankReportingManufacturedHomeLivingNewsPostedMastheadBlogMHProNews--150x38.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 428px) 100vw, 428px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12974\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Click the image shown to see the video and report.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The Common Thread?<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10568\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10568\" style=\"width: 221px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10568\" src=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Tim-williams-CEO-and-President-21st-mortgage-corporation-postedMastheadBlog-MHProNews-com-.jpg\" alt=\"im-williams-CEO-and-President-21st-mortgage-corporation-postedMastheadBlog-MHProNews-com-\" width=\"221\" height=\"166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Tim-williams-CEO-and-President-21st-mortgage-corporation-postedMastheadBlog-MHProNews-com-.jpg 221w, https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Tim-williams-CEO-and-President-21st-mortgage-corporation-postedMastheadBlog-MHProNews-com--150x113.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10568\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Tim Williams, 21st Mortgage CEO and MHI Chairman.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>These activist groups have common threads, and Tim Williams of 21<sup>st<\/sup> Mortgage described that in a power point he gave <em>MHProNews<\/em> permission to share \u2013 but we\u2019ll save that slide for another time, while making his key point.<\/p>\n<p>Namely, that these self-described progressive groups have an agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Those so-called progressives are often harming the very people they claim to help.<\/p>\n<p>But they are so passionate &#8211; so dedicated to their cause and beliefs &#8211; that they simply never, never quit.<\/p>\n<p>While some can be reasoned with, for others, the facts don\u2019t matter to them, especially when the facts go counter to their beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>Progressives claim to champion the poor and downtrodden, but in fact it\u2019s often <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/cfed-and-cfpb-confused-conflicted-friends-of-manufactured-home-owners-and-prospective-buyers\/\">Big Government and Big Foundations that supply them with the money they need to do their activist work<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve learned to utilize quite successfully local and Big Media to carry their messages.<\/p>\n<p>And for years &#8211; Proper media engagement is part of that picture, industry opponents use it, why can&#8217;t we use the media with the compelling truth? Beyond that, we must also defend and explain cases that may look problematic, but may have a good explanation, so long as that reason is understandable. disruptive anti-MH business activist groups and their allies in media, a veritable alphabet soup of federal, state and local agencies, which in recent years have swamped the ability of small businesses to enter, stay effectively or be as profitable as they would otherwise be in the marketplace.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12979\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12979\" have been avoided in the absence of anti-business policies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/cfed-and-cfpb-confused-conflicted-friends-of-manufactured-home-owners-and-prospective-buyers\/\">As is linked above and here again, federal dollars have gone to groups such as CFED<\/a>, which in turn lobby media, federal, state or other entities in ways that may be well-intentioned, but in fact promote \u201csolutions\u201d that often (though
