the less joyous recent news hitting the MH industry.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>Seattle Times\/BuzzFeed&#8217;s Mike Baker Daniel Wagner duo Strikes Again<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">As <a href=\"http:\/\/nanotechnews.com\/buffett-seattle-timesbuzzfeed-takedown-story-paints-claytons-manufactured-housing-empire-with-deception\/\" target=\"_blank\">NanoTech News and other published media outlets<\/a> put it about Baker and Wagner: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #555555;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"color: #b84700;\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>The writing duo\u2019s use of the term \u201cmobile home\u201d is clearly meant to invoke the image of shoddy, pre-HUD Code<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #b84700;\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>\u00a0trailer houses<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #b84700;\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>, and bestow upon billionaire Buffett the aura of an unscrupulous slumlord presiding over the financial rape of the poor and disenfranchised.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #555555;\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #b84700;\"><b>Nor do these so-called journalists, who claim expertise in financial reporting, seem to have even a tenuous grasp on the types of loans available to these buyers and how home-only \u201cchattel\u201d loans for manufactured homes are underwritten<\/b><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">But has the horse left the proverbial barn with respect to much of the mainstream media coverage of this story? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Beyond the original <b>Seattle Times\/Buzz Feed<\/b> and related follow up articles, <i><b>Bloomberg<\/b><\/i>, <i><b>The Hill<\/b><\/i> and a host of others are covering the latest word that House Democrat Maxine Waters is calling for an investigation into the Warren Buffett MH \u201cempire.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11026\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11026\" has recently said they can imagine that Warren Buffett won&#8217;t find the $577 million in profits from Clayton Homes\/manufactured housing as being enough to keep it in the Berkshire-Hathaway It would be hard to imagine anything more encouraging to <a href=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/bad-and-good-two-sides-manufactured-home-living-and-news-reporting\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ishbel Dickens and company<\/a> than MHI and others in the industry abandoning HR 650\/S 682. It is my sincere hope that the powers-that-be decide to amp up, and give an all out effort to win on this bill.
