Hmm, ok. Now what? What are the next steps in the MHI plan to defending the industry&#8217;s reputation<span lang=\"ru-RU\">? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Are we really going to watch and accept &#8211; <strong><em>public silence<\/em> &#8211; from MHI<\/strong> on key issues that arguably harms the image of the entire industry and MHI&#8217;s own avowed legislative agenda? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Surely we aren&#8217;t going to allow attacks on our financing or the value proposition created by the MHCs to go unanswered in the public square? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Right or wrong, won&#8217;t MHI&#8217;s public silence<\/strong>\u00a0appear to others as a de facto &#8216;admission of guilt&#8217; to all of the allegations that PBS made in their flawed &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/what-pbs-newshour-missed-about-manufactured-home-living\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bad Bargain&#8217; story<\/a>? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">We certainly hope and pray that whoever is making that kind of &#8216;<span style=\"color: #993300;\">let&#8217;s not comment in public<\/span>&#8216; decision at MHI will think twice. We have objetively done more and broader publishing for the industry and MHI in support of HR 650 and S 682 than they have, because we believe in the goals of the MHI backed bill as being good for consumers and for the industry. \u00a0We will continue to support it,<em> but we also hereby call on MHI to support their own effort by standing up publicly against the public PBS stance. \u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">My time is valuable, how about yours? Getting things done in DC is not easy. But that just means we have to work smarter to get our legislation passed that will protect consumers home values, ability to purchase and MH Profesionals ability to sell more homes. \u00a0Our Opposition uses the media to their advantage! Won&#8217;t MH Pros learn to do the same? \u00a0We have the better story, because the TRUTH is on OUR SIDE! \u00a0But would you know that based solely on the public response coming out of Arlington to the PBS NewsHour report? \u00a0Image credit: tomtwomeyseries.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>We must Play the Legislative, Lobbying Game to Win &#8211;<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><strong style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Helvetica, serif; color: #000000; line-height: 1.5;\">many MHPros are sick and TIRED of LOSING in DC.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">This PBS takedown is either bane or blessing, depending on what the industry and its members do. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/jiu-jitsu-january-in-mhville-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\">We either <\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/jiu-jitsu-january-in-mhville-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jui Jitsu this into an opportunity\u00a0to improve our image and thus sell more homes and fill more vacant home sites<\/a>, or <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>for lack of the right effort at the top,<\/strong> all in MH will pay the price in lost sales and further erosion of our industry&#8217;s image. \u00a0I can&#8217;t disagree more with MHI&#8217;s proported plan for silence. \u00a0How about you? \u00a0What say you?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">PBS&#8217; takedown story deliberatly makes MH look like &#8211; using PBS&#8217; own words a <strong>&#8220;bad bargain,&#8221;<\/strong><em>\u00a0what nonsense!<\/em> \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/reinventing-huds-role-in-quality-affordable-housing-reducing-poverty-and-dependency\/\" target=\"_blank\">Should we allow the feds to spend billions of taxpayer dollars on subsidized housing<\/a>, and then not support a free market solution that MH offers that benefits almost everyone in the mix? \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Our next planned report on the PBS story is pending, stay tuned for that one&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>The difference between Seattle Times\/BuzzFeed and PBS<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">One could better understand why MHI let Buffett and Clayton Homes defend themselves, as harmful as that is to the industry and its clear attack on MHI&#8217;s legislative efforts. The reason? <span lang=\"en-US\"><i>The Seattle Times\/BuzzFeed takedown piece was directly targeting Buffett and his MH <\/i><\/span><i>compan<\/i><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>ies<\/i><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">But with the only organization in the PBS takedown story being named is MHI, doesn&#8217;t it stand against reason NOT to allow Carla Burr&#8217;s\/et al comments via PBS to publicly go unrefuted by MHI?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Please see the <a href=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomepronews.com\/masthead\/17-5-million-autos-in-2015-vs-70000-manufactured-homes\/\" target=\"_blank\">prior Masthead post where we clearly outline the obvious dollars-and-cents logic<\/a> of why <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/manufacturedhomelivingnews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">MHLivingNews<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/really-bad-bargain-manufactured-homeowners-feel-the-financial-strain-pbs-newshour-mhpronews-flash-report-and-analysis\/\" target=\"_blank\">MHProNews<\/a><\/em><\/strong> have and will defend the integrity of the industry&#8217;s honest and ethical professionals against those who de facto harm reputable businesses within our industry who are serving the public well. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong><em>Note too that the PBS story arguably harms MH homeowners and prospective buyers<\/em><\/strong>. Whose agenda is PBS intentionally or coincidentally advancing? Do we think we&#8217;ll benefit &#8211; as do and will others! &#8211; from that effort? Of course. That&#8217;s what successful business do! <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">As I responded to the unnamed person who sent that comment, &#8216;<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>We may agree to disagree on approaches<\/strong><\/span>.&#8217; But the facts speak for themselves. \u00a0Not responding for decades to such attacks has harmed our industry&#8217;s public image.
