See <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/bobstovall\/donald-trump-marketing-lessons-for-manufactured-housing-from-his-presidential-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\">this pre-debate commentary<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To say that The Trump name has been good for the audience that Fox\/Facebook had for their debate and the pre-and-post-event hype about first GOP debate is a huge understatement.\u00a0Only some major sporting events have done better. \u00a0So<em>\u00a0what can it mean for manufactured housing pros?\u00a0<\/em> Some quick bullets&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Donald &#8211; real estate mogul and businessman, a political insider who gives money to both Democrats and Republicans &#8211; is seen as boldly <em>telling it like he sees it,<\/em> and <em>the public is responding<\/em>. \u00a0He is also rationally explained his shift on positions from Democratic to more Republican views, and why he&#8217;s keeping &#8216;leverage&#8217; so that the Republican Party establishment doesn&#8217;t try to unfairly derail his campaign, just as some in the media (examples, above) believe they are trying to do.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The public is clearly ready for different.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The public wants some entertainment value &#8211; Reality Political Theater if you will &#8211; in what they&#8217;re seeing in the race, while also wanting to hear from the various candidates.<\/li>\n<li>Please note that almost all of the media observers are blown away by the sheer size of the Fox audience Thursday. Even the &#8220;happy hour&#8221; debate of the 7 lowest polling GOP candidates at 5 PM Eastern &#8211; that Carly Fiorina is widely reputed to have won &#8211; had over 6 million viewers, which would have made it one of the biggest television debate audiences of all time. \u00a0Freeze-frame on those two realities. \u00a0The &#8216;winners&#8217; &#8211; in the public&#8217;s vs. the pundit&#8217;s views &#8211; of the debates were non-politicians. \u00a0Not strangers to politics, to be sure, but they are not career politicians.<\/li>\n<li>Then note that 24 million figure, mindful that manufactured housing and pre HUD Code mobile home owners represents <strong><em>roughly 22 million people<\/em><\/strong>. We&#8217;re already seeing good feedback from the media, are giving more coverage and favorable attention to what we&#8217;re doing. \u00a0The feedback from politicos staff in DC and at the state\/local level &#8211; even from those who are often opposed to our finance\/regulatory issues such as S 682\/HR 650, has been positive too. The public likes what they see too. MH must learn to do the same!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Let&#8217;s rephrase. \u00a0We must learn to properly define ourselves or others will define us, often to our detriment.<\/p>\n<p>We must have a compelling message and we must have a powerful 1-2 counterpunch when we are challenged. \u00a0The Donald is fighting back when attacked. \u00a0<strong><em>Duh!<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0The MH Industry must do the same when we are challenged on some issue that we&#8217;re right on, but the other side just doesn&#8217;t get it. \u00a0That&#8217;s OUR jobs, individually and collectively, to make our MH case.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve started the ball rolling, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhmarketingsalesmanagement.com\/blogs\/tonykovach\/?p=10156\" target=\"_blank\">thanks to the support of others (see link here<\/a>). More Fuel for this effort is what is needed.\u00a0 We too can <strong>Trump<\/strong>et our <strong>MH Industry&#8217;s many success stories, tales from\u00a0home owners as well as professionals<\/strong>.
